and this is what i saw today. That is the "official" Poster for a so called "Easter-Market" here in Oldenburg (we are having that kind of market for a long time once a year). There's one "CrossMedia" / Advertising Agency that mostly does all the Graphic Design Stuff for the City Council and i guess they did "that". This is defintately the most horrific Piece of "Graphic Design" i've seen for a long long time!
Each first-week-graphic-design-student can do better! Please City of Oldenburg stop this crap! Oldenburg is a beautiful Town and we do not need this horrible "Graphics" billpostings all over the Town! Thanks.

Just a few weeks after i bought myself a FrancisFrancis X1 i noticed that the Coffee in one of my favourite Coffeeshops wasn't that good as before. Before the X1 i mostly ordered Cappucino or Cafe au Lait there, but last week i tried a "simple" espresso there - no Milk, no Sugar, just a pure Shot:

It was awfull!

Don't get me wrong: owning a FrancisFrancis X1 doesn't make me a professional Barista but it definitately changed my taste of coffee. Before i always used to drink a white coffee with sugar, now i'm more happy with a pure espresso. I've spend a good amount of time reading about roasting, brewing temperature, frothing milk, professional machines and everything related to coffee, i also bought a professional La Spaziale last week. Well, back to the local Coffeeshop:

The store itself is quite a nice place, kind of Starbucks but nice. After i tasted my espresso i went back to the counter and asked the guy to make me a new one, but with crema please. The second one he pulled was exactly like the first one: no crema at all, no taste, awfull again. I tried a cappucino afterwards and guess what: it was also awfull.

The X1 (and the Danesi Coffee) changed my taste - completely.

I'll check the other Coffeeshops soon and i'm wondering if i'll find one where the espresso tastes better than currently at home. It'll be a good idea to write a small Oldenburg-Espresso-Guide including some Service Reviews and Photos. I will post it here soon.

Caterina had a Post on a Facebook "Issue" here (the Story is about here name (Caterina Fake) which Facebook identifies as a "Fake" (illegitimate Name) for a Real Name). It's nice to have a Blacklist for such things sometimes, but from my point of view totally unnessecary, because you can't rate Real Names in all available Languages, can you?
Anyway, useless or not it shows that Mr Zuckerberg implemented some logic, but now less than ever i'm wondering why i have to fill out my Country at least 3 Times?!? First when joining a regional Network, second when editing my basic Profile and third when i edit my Contact Profile and even a fourth time when i want to add a Work Profile.

Ok, it might be possible i sign up to Facebook when on Holiday in Spain, have my Office in France, live in Germany and work in England, but… i would suggest setting the Country registered with as default for all other Country Profile Settings. Thanks Marc.

p.s.: thinking about that legitimate Real Name Issue, what is it good for? It's like comparing the entered EMail Address to the Real Name, especially when the email uses the surname.lastname@ pattern. FB also uses EMail Validation on the Registration, a nasty Image Captcha and even (not required) a Validation by Mobile Phone Number.

p.s.2: registering with "Steve Jobs" just works fine. tsk tsk tsk.

Wouldn't it be great if IMDb would offer an API? I would love a Movie.GetQuotes() or even a "simple" Director.GetTitles(). To be honest i missed the Day when IMDb was sold to Amazon, but even Amazon offers an API for Amazon itself i guess we'll never see an IMDb API, because they are offering to license their content. Packages start at 15.000$ per Year.
But wait!
Did you recently acquire YouTube, or Rojo, Weblogs, Picasa or so? We not spend another Million on licensing some IMDb Packages? Get one Developer to do an API Interface (imagine the variety of Data you would get!), wrap a nice site around and sell it later on for some Millions. Hmmm?

I often thought of doing this and now i do… no, not moving to spain (not yet), but switching this Blogs Language from German to English. This is WWW isn't it? So let's offer it to even more people than before. Here we go.

Das aktuelle Security Update von heute hat mir gerade meinen Airport zerschossen. Nach der Installation und dem Neustart wollte OSX die AppleAirport2.kext Erweiterung nicht mehr laden - das Resultat ist klar: kein Airport, kein Netz (jedenfalls keine Wireless).

Schnelle Abhilfe für alle die die das gleiche Problem haben oder bekommen sollten: mit dem Festplattendienst Programm die Zugriffsrechte überprüfen und reparieren. Danach gehört diese Erweiterung dann wieder der richtigen Gruppe und der Airport Treiber kann auch wieder geladen werden.

Nach dem nun am vergangenen Samstag (25.11.2006) Addictive TV nebst Giraffentoast beim Sehkanal im Güterbahnhof Bremen zu Gast waren, folgen am 16.12.2006 Hexstatic!
Nebst diesen beiden hier hervorgehobenen Daten ist die Institution Sehkanal generell viel mehr Aufmerksamkeit würdig, also bitte alle mal eben das hier auschecken: http://www.sehkanal.tv und "vorbeischauen" (real, virtuell und doppeldeutig).

Heute habe ich das erste Mal wieder nach deutschen Google Ergebnissen gesucht und mir ein paar deutsche Seiten zum Thema Web2.0 angeschaut. Irgendwie haben wir ja in dem Bereich den Anschluss total verpasst, glänzen jetzt aber darin alles wieder neu zu erfinden.
Als ich dann auf »Mr.Wong« gestossen bin, in einem anderen Portal die x-te Fotoapplikation fand stellte ich mir die Frage im Titel dieses Beitrags:

Werden der Zeit nicht alle »Social Bookmarking« Applikationen (und auch andere Web2.0 Applikationen) ad absurdum geführt?

Ein Mashup nach dem anderen. Selbst wenn ich an »normale« Blogs denke gibt es meistens die Möglichkeit Beiträge über mindestens 6 verschiedene "Bookmarking Services« zu speichern. Immer mehr kleine Inseln mit Import Möglichkeiten aus anderen Applikationen - für quasi jede Sprache ein anderer Service.
Hat bald jede Community seine eigenen Web2.0 Dienste? Werden die meist noch globalen Dienste irgendwann wieder lokal und somit »nur« noch in kleinen Benutzer-kreisen »geshared«?

Dünnes Eis in Sicht!

Es gibt Dinge bei denen lehnt man sich in einer kleinen Stadt wie Oldenburg weit aus dem Fenster, z.B. hier mit:

Frese & Wolff, die »One-Voice« Agentur mit Sitz in Oldenburg, liefert Ihren Kunden Arbeiten wie z.B. die Gestaltung der Olantis Homepage (und dessen Logo). »Very Retro-Chic« mag man denken, nur ist diese Arbeit von 2005 und nicht von 1998 (übrigens genauso wie die Eintrittspreise - man beachte das Euro Zeichen).

Es hat wahrscheinlich seinen Grund das diese Arbeit sich nicht im Online-Portfolio von »F&W« wiederfindet. Ausbeutung von Erstsemestern in Mediengestaltung nennt man sowas, oder? Dennoch irgendwie beachtlich das es 2006 noch Seiten gibt die ohne CSS auskommen…

Hubert taucht seit ein paar Tagen auf unterschiedlichen Seiten im Netz auf. Aktuell nur bei denen die in Relation zu OSX Applikationen stehen.

Laut seiner Homepage gibt es Fight-Club mässige Regeln (um genau zu sein 2) und Regel Nummer 1 wurde hiermit gebrochen.

Widgetmachine wird scheinbar bald ein OSX Widget das ihm gewidmet ist veröffentlichen. Der Download Versuch landet aber auf der Seite von Embraceware (Hersteller von Awaken, dem Itunes Wecker). Hubert ist aber auch auf dieser Seite wieder zu finden und ganz Schnitzeljagd mässig landet man wieder auf einer anderen Homepage, nämlich der von Stuntsoftware. Von dort dann weiter zu Inventive, von dort zu Unsanity. Hier verliert sich dann die Spur. Ich bleib am Ball.

P.S.: Hubert's Homepage Domain ist übrigends auf Tucows registriert… Also muss es hierbei wohl um irgendetwas im Zusammenhang mit Shareware gehen, so viel steht schon mal fest

Tom ist nicht mein Freund.

Genauso wenig sind seine über 124 Millionen Freunde bei MySpace, die automatisch auch meine Freunde beim Registieren werden, nicht meine Freunde. Tom ist genauso uncool wie nahezu alle »new cool people« auf der Startseite und noch viel uncooler ist die MySpace Optik.

Auf Grund der Tatsache das manche Bands inzwischen nur noch über eine MySpace Homepage verfügen, kommt man ja leider nicht drum herum diese einmal zu besuchen und wird jedesmal mit automatisch abspielenden Tracks dieser »Künstler« genervt. Dazu voll-ge-spam-te »Gästebuch« Einträge und plötzlich hat man sogar wieder Freund im »extended Network nur weil ich mir irgendeine Bandseite anschaue.

Würde es eine gute Anti-MySpace-Campaign geben, ich wäre sofort dabei.

Heute Morgen beim Quickshopping in der Innenstadt gesehen und für gut befunden. Ursprünglich wollte uns Schuhkay (ist das da wo die Schuhe anlegen?) weiss machen das Oldenburg noch schöner wird. Der unbekannte »Künstler« machte dann mit Hilfe eines 2. »d« ein dörer draus. Wie treffend! Ein wenig Hintergrundwissen für die nicht-Oldenburger: Oldenburgs Innenstadt leidet inzwischen an Ketten-Stores, Banken, Handyshops und ähnlichem Konsumshops durch die der ursprüngliche Charm der Innenstadt der weil fast nicht mehr spürbar ist.
